Brigitte Bardot & Saint-Tropez, homage to a love story
The militant star of many talents will be celebrating her 90th birthday next September 28th, as Saint-Tropez steps up in style to honour its muse. Your luxury hotel in Saint-Tropez is delighted to share this year’s exciting and nostalgia-filled events programme with you.
A long and beautiful love story
Brigitte Bardot forged her first memories of Saint-Tropez at her family home, swathed in dazzling colours, lush vegetation and precious moments. But it was in 1956, with the release of the movie “And God Created Woman”, that the entire world discovered Saint-Tropez and Brigitte Bardot in a photograph instilled with wild and insolent beauty. The film, directed by Roger Vadim, hoisted Brigitte Bardot to the ranks of international icon. The actress and her husband, madly in love with the little Provencal village of Saint-Tropez, delighted in introducing the world to its natural environment, fishermen’s cottages and the picturesque vistas that today attract travellers from the four corners of the globe.
The film’s unrivalled success contributed largely to the renown of this little village in the Var area. Crowds flocked to the new “in” destination, while the soaring fame of the movie fans’ new idol marked the débuts of a love story that has fascinated the world ever since.
The rest is history… Everything Brigitte Bardot touched turned to gold. A mix of poetry and eccentricity, Saint-Tropez became a coveted meeting place for the jet-set and temple of nights to remember. Meanwhile, Brigitte Bardot continued to win the hearts of the people of Saint-Tropez, forming a bond that was to last forever.
